matematicaspreviasalcalculolouisleithold3edicion,first look: bordeaux rivertown very impressed with our recent run to bordeaux. aptly named “city of wine and food,” the city is lined with wine stores, restaurants and bars which are quite generous with wine samples. in fact, there is even a wine and cigar section! about a mile away from the charles de gaulle airport in the center of the city. but the airport is so tiny that you don’t have to leave the city to get there! already being redeveloped and revitalized with new hotels, shopping and entertainment venues, the city has a lot to offer. french riviera firms (as they are known here), in addition to the cruise ships docked here, also bring in several thousand visitors daily. with new businesses and apartments, the city has seen great growth in the past couple of decades. this picture is from the back entrance of our hotel on rue etienne guettard. the hotel has a very nice contemporary feel to it and is very quiet. if you have read any of my other blogs, you know i am a big fan of trying new restaurants. when i first saw the menu, i was drooling in my seat, counting how many dishes i could choose from. there were so many choices, but they were from the wine region and most of them were highly regional. the $38 price tag was a bit disappointing and after a solid 30-minute wait for a table, we decided to head out. the first course was from a foie gras plate which was served with melon and a citrus zest compote. but since we were there for the wine, the multi-course wine tasting tasting menu was the next best option. the first course was fizz de richebourg. this was a traditional french wine mixed with sparkling wine. delicious! the next course was an appetizer of exotic local cuisine. i did not care for this one, but i would have to say that our server was excellent. next up were two small amuse bouche appetizers and bread with a meyer lemon sauce. this was a great start to the meal. this was delicious! i love lemon. i love deviled eggs. i love meyer lemons. all three of these desserts together created a very delicious dessert. bordeaux dinner for dinner, we tried the first of the six selections. it was a special menu for the bordeaux rivertown area. this was the perfect pre-dinner choice. i picked this entree over the lentil soup as i am always looking for the best combination of flavors. this was sauteed chicken breast on a bed of arugula and lemon-soy dressing topped with avocado and sprigs of citrus. i think i could eat salad for every meal. i am a vegetarian and still eat salads.
